MEN'S "TEASER" MAGAZINE DECLARES MANY MUSCLE MEN ARE HOMOSEXUAL.

In a 1958 Issue of "SIR" is an article entitled: "It's The Day of The Gray Flannel Fag" and it carries an illustration of a back pose of a famous massive athlete. On top of the picture is the caption "Many gay boys are athletic, muscular. Late Dr. Kinsey sald 15 to 20% of U.S. males are homos, but only 4% so effeminate they are recognizable." In appraising such an article, due consideration shouldfirst be given to the type of people such books as "SIR" appeal to. We believe it has its principle audience among vapid, sickly bodied and sickly minded men who wouldn't have the gumption to do a little exercise and therefore want to get some imagined feeling of superiority by believing that musclemen may fall in a socially outcast group.

At any rate the article goes on to name the more prominent homosexuals down through history as well as in our contemporary society. It emphasizes how "tough" some "gay boys" can be, pointing out "It's getting so you can't tell the players without a score card." Least some unfor tunate young lady associate with a homosexual without realizing it, they point out the following tell-tale signs, as a criterion for women to follow to make certain their "escort is (not) a neurotic muscleman.":

1. "They can make even a Brooks Brothers' suit look fussy or a Robert Hall number fastidious. They don't like ties.

2. "They have a clipped, arty way of speaking.

3. "Their haircuts are always just right; never too long (might be a giveaway) or too short. Some exhibitionists display Napoleonic bangs.

4. "Their man-to-man handshakes linger; their pat on another man's back is a coress; when they talk to a woman they're apt to glance

at other men,"

Now it is quite possible that the author of this article is an authority on this matter, we aren't. We took it to a psychiatrist we know who said it was laughable. He pointed out that from his own experience he found the Incidence of homosexuality in athletes to be about the same as in other factions of the population. As to the above listed "rules" for "spotting" the characteristic, he pointed at that its employment could lead to gross errors. He said however, that one rule of the thumb that can often be depended on is that repressed homosexuals are almost always the most vicious and violent critics of their own group.
